Executive Vacancies Up More Than 30 Percent 
 
 
 

In the blooming job market in Hong Kong, vacancies for executives have risen by 34% compared with 2006.

According to the January 2007 survey conducted by recruitment consultant E.L. Consult, the demand for executives in Hong Kong's job market increased by 3% in January 2007 compared with the figure in December 2006, with most job vacancies in finance and banking industry.

It is reported that the demand for executives is high especially for China-based ventures and will increase in the run up to Chinese New Year and the payment of bonuses. Demand for finance executives is high in banking and finance industries, insurance firms, and electronic consumer goods manufacturers. In the engineering sector, monthly demand was up 9% but compared with the same period last year, the demand is down 8%. Most demand for engineering executives come from electronic component manufacturers, property developers and building and construction companies, especially with the huge developments in Macau.

As for the demand from IT industry, hospitality providers, logistics companies, telco firms and garment and textile companies were the most active recruiters. The demand for IT executives was up 21% compared with the same period in 2006.
