Hoteliers in Hong Kong will get high pay rise and huge bonuses this year as a result of the talent competition with Macau in the industry.

The Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners has revealed that employers in the industry have reached a consensus to increase the salaries of staff by 4% to 5%. In addition, depending on the work performance of staff, bonuses of up to 3 months of salaries will be provided. The amount of bonuses is expected to be the highest in recent years.

It is reported that 42,000 hoteliers from more than 130 hotels in Hong Kong will benefit from the pay and bonus adjustment this year. This is the result of competing for talent with Macau. Lots of hotel professionals in Hong Kong have been attracted by the high salaries and promotional opportunities offered by five-star hotels in Macau. These hotels look for senior and middle management staff in Hong Kong. At this stage, the staff turnover rate in hotels in Hong Kong ranges from 10% to 20%. To attract staff, especially those in the front line, hotels in Hong Kong have increased their starting salaries by 10% to 20%.
