In the book, Mun Leong shares his thoughts on various issues with his employees through a series of e-mail messages that he writes mostly on Sundays. Through e-mail, Mr Liew shared his insights and management philosophy, as well as observations from his business travels.

The e-mail messages are thought provoking and also teach valuable lessons about business strategies and life in general. ‘Who Stole Our Cheese?’, for example, was written after CapitaLand lost the Marina Bay integrated resort bid. In the brutally honest piece, Mr Liew says CapitaLand made the ‘killer mistake’ of not identifying the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions business as one the government was keen to grow.

In other messages, he is more philosophical. In one, he relates the story of a blind 75-year-old English man who still plays golf, urging his employees to not ‘give up easily on life, even when the most difficult times hit’.
