Located in the vibrant and scenic Marina Bay area, Pan Pacific Singapore is a leading Five Star hotel that was awarded the World's Leading Business Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2007.

From the moment a guest arrives at the hotel, they are given the best personalised service from a welcoming and professional staff. Every wish is looked into, every detail taken care of.

We highlight three of her warm and professional staff here.

Janice Chan
works in F&B Guest Relations at Global Kitchen. She joined the hotel in 1987, and has spent 21 years in Food & Beverage at Pan Pacific Singapore. Janice started in the hotel as a waitress and was promoted to captain, hostess and F&B agent.

1. What’s your job like at Pan Pacific?

My job responsibilities include but are not limited to hostessing, recommending food & beverages to guests, interacting with guests and handling guest requests and feedback.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy interacting with guests, finding out about their trip and gathering feedback of the hotel and the service standards, including their dining experience. I want to excel at what I do to ensure a positive dining experience.

3. Did you require any special education or training to work in your current job?

I have undergone mainly on-the-job-trainings both at a departmental- and company-wide level. Food and beverage enrichment courses are regularly conducted to strengthen my job knowledge.

4. What are some of your highlights working at Pan Pacific?

The guest comments that I receive through the hotel’s guest comment card programme is a strong motivator for me. When guests are satisfied with their dining experiences, I am happy.

I enjoy meeting people and I was honoured to be chosen to represent the hotel in a Tokyo educational tour which brought together selected representatives from hotels within the group. The long service recognitions also boost my morale.

5. What personal goals do you wish to achieve with Pan Pacific for the future?

I hope to grow with the hotel continuously, increasing the breadth and depth of my skills, and play a key role in contributing to the success of the organisation.

David Devasarayan is the Assistant Manager at Pacific Club. He joined the hotel in 1988, and has spent 20 years at Pan Pacific Singapore. David started as a room attendant and became team leader, supervisor and in 1998, joined Pacific Club as a butler. He was also awarded the Excellent Service Award in 2005 and 2007.

1. What’s your job like at Pan Pacific?

I oversee the operations of the Pacific Club and manage a team of 11 associates. My job essentially revolves around the guests at the Pacific Club and ensuring that their requirements and needs are met while exceeding their expectations to provide a comfortable and memorable stay.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy interacting with people and my job gives me ample opportunity to engage in conversation with them, especially during the evening cocktail hours when guests are more relaxed. Through interaction with guests, I find out more about their preferences, their plans for the day and seek to find creative ways to proactively assist them.

3. Did you require any special education or training to work in your current job?

Pan Pacific Singapore has provided many educational opportunities through on-the-job training and education programmes. I was happy to be selected to attend the professional butler course which reinforces my job competency.

4. What are some of your highlights working at Pan Pacific?

My workplace is my home and although I am Malaysian, the associates at Pan Pacific Singapore have made me feel welcomed and appreciated.

5. What personal goals do you wish to achieve with Pan Pacific for the future?

I hope to continue demonstrating the concept of Personalised Care with new associates thereby cultivating a genuine care service philosophy with our guests. I derive job satisfaction through developing lasting warm relationships with our regular guests during the course of my work.

Yukie Sato
is a Duty Manager and has been with the hotel for one year and eight months.

1. What’s your job like at Pan Pacific?

My job responsibilities include overseeing the hotel operations including front office, food and beverage, as well as the back of house. As the Manager on Duty, one of my main duties is to ensure that any guests’ needs and feedback are attended to promptly.

Improvements based on guests’ feedback are then recommended to the management team. Being a key operations staff member, my priority is to ensure the safety of our guests by being alert to emergency situations and react calmly to resolve any issues.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

My job responsibilities include familiarising with the hotel operations in its entirety and I enjoy the interaction with my colleagues from other departments.

3. Did you require any special education or training to work in your current job?

I received on-the-job training related to hotel operations as well as selected courses on safety and security.

4. What are some of your highlights working at Pan Pacific?

I have been given opportunities to receive cross-exposure in other departments including the hotel’s Japanese Restaurant, Keyaki, for four months where I learnt a lot about restaurant operations and managing a business. I feel appreciated that the management values feedback from all associates and have implemented constructive improvements based on guests’ suggestions.

5. What personal goals do you wish to achieve with Pan Pacific for the future?

With the hospitality industry booming in Singapore and the extensive developments in the Marina Bay area including the Formula1™ race and the Integrated Resorts, I believe this is one of the most exciting times in history and the growth potential is phenomenal.

Through enriching my knowledge, I look forward to grow and mature with the brand, especially within the Japanese market. It is exciting to initiate and effect change in a dynamic industry.
