Last
November 12-13, JobsDB Phils, Inc. held
a job fair in Ilocos Norte with the full support
and sponsorship of the local government unit via the Office
of Congresswoman Imee Marcos.
This Ilocos
Job Fair was held in response to a call from our
client companies to look for qualified, hardworking employees
who will stay with the companies for the long-term, endure
the current economic constraints, and yet continue to give
their best possible performance.
Ilocano workers
have been known as workers who thrive on the challenges
of hard work and sacrifice. Ilocos Norte is the one region
that consistently tops the Board Exams in Accounting and
Finance, with their OFWs sending the highest dollar revenues
that support our national economy.
The
cleanliness and order that sweep over this province speak
volumes about the discipline of its people. Unlike many
of their NCR counterparts, the college graduates are not
choosy about work but instead will use the opportunities
available to improve themselves. The same holds true for
thirty to fortysomething professionals looking for employment
or a career change.
The core skills and strengths
of Ilocanos include:
Accounting and Finance
Education
Nursing and other Medical-related
professions
Maritime, e.g. seamen and
other related professions
Call centers - many Ilocanos
are fluent in the English language and can be further trained
to adopt the "global" accent that is commonly
used in the contact centers.
The
province also boasts of colleges and universities that continually
upgrade their courses to ensure that their students remain
competitive. These schools include but are not limited to
the following:
• Don Mariano Marcos State University
• Northwestern University
• Divine Word College of Laoag
• Northern Christian College
• Data Center College of the Philippines
• STI Laoag
•
Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trades
•
AMA Computer Learning Center
•
